Child Welfare
We at New Star Bristol Judo Club take the welfare of our members
very seriously. We align ourselves to the British Judo Association
who uphold the principle that all children whatever their age, culture,
disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and/or
sexual identity, have the right to protection from abuse. The members,
staff and volunteers of the Association are committed to the welfare
and protection of children so that they can enjoy sporting activities
in safety without fear, threat or abuse.
In order to uphold these
principles the club has appointed Ian England as
the Child Welfare officer for Patchway and Kelly Jefferies
for Seamills.
Their terms of reference are:
- To act as a point of contact in all issues relating to the Welfare
of young people and to ensure all appropriate documentation and
forms are completed in accordance with the BJA Policy and Procedures
for the welfare of young peple in Judo.
- Ensure the club has a Child Protection Policy and implementation
plan.
- Ensure Codes of Conduct are well publicised and adhered to.
- In consultation with the County Welfare Officer, ensure all
reported incidents are managed at the appropriate level, in line
with BJA procedures.
- Ensure all relevant club members are aware of training opportunities.
- Ensure all parents are aware of the club policy on Child Protection
and the correct protocols for voicing concerns.
- Be aware of local Social Services and Area Child Protection
Committee contacts.
- Sit on relevant committees.
- If any immediate concern relating to the welfare of a young
person arises, the Child Welfare officer will contact the relevant
agencies.
- To liaise with the Parents Forum or Club Committee and all coaches,
referees and volunteers taking responsibility for young people,
and all parents/guardians of joung people.
- Ensure that all coaches and volounteers have been CRB checked,
and that all Coaches and Parent Helpers on the Mat have attended
a Child Protection Course.
Ian and Kelly will act
with only the children's best interest at heart, and the Club will
brook no interference with their position or their work towards
